Webflow Developer at Sugarologie - United States

Job Type: Independent contractor (1099)

Sugarologie is a digital media company with a focus on food science content. We make videos for multiple platforms and the accompanying written content, including recipes, guides, and tutorials reside on Webflow. The custom collections integrate with a javascript recipe creation application, The Cakeculator.

We are currently looking for a creative, dependable, and efficient front-end developer on a contract basis to help maintain and add new features.

You are:

• Proficient in HTML, CSS, and especially JavaScript, as the majority of the projects will work around recipe app functionality, which is Javascript-based.
• Skilled and creative in Webflow development and their third-party integration (such as Memberstack).
• Experienced with building with mobile-first/responsive sites and web-based apps.
• Passionate about building beautiful websites with an eye for good modern design and can offer creative solutions design-wise.
• Familiar with SEO best practices and website optimization from a developer's perspective (page speeds etc.)
• Familiar with basic accessibility best practices for buttons, forms, and interactive UI on content-heavy sites.
• Comfortable working asynchronously with check-ins via Slack and/or email and occasional video calls during Pacific business hours.
• A stickler for details, excellent in organizational skills, and efficient with time management/turn around times.
• Able to meet deadlines with fast turnaround times (< 7 days, depending on the task) and can commit to 10-20 hours per month, based on project needs.

You will:

• Maintain and update the current Javascript code to enhance website functionality, such as filtering, recipe card UI/UX, and The Cakeculator.
• Develop a seamless user signup/signed-in experience for Memberstack members (including ensuring that they enjoy ad-free browsing when necessary).
• Optimize website design for various devices and screen sizes, particularly for the recipe cards in both the Cakeculator and Recipe posts (e.g., checkboxes as users move through recipes, possibly adding swipe- features, etc.).
• Optimize site content and image naming for better search engine results ranking
• Conduct thorough testing to identify and resolve any design or functionality issues, ensuring a flawless end product.

Preferred Qualifications

• Webflow Certification/ other relevant certifications
• Very strong knowledge of JavaScript
• At least 5 years of experience in web development
• Experience with other programming languages
• Knowledge of best UX/UI design principles
• Experience with responsive design and mobile optimization
• Familiarity with blog-based websites - in terms of their SEO, monetization practices (ad network integrations) and common UX/UI users expect from these types of sites, particularly food-based or recipe-based ones
• Proficiency in installing, customizing, implementing, and managing third party integrations and workflows (currently right now, Memberstack)
• Based on the west coast of the United States (Pacific time zone)
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• You love to talk about food!
