Senior Web Engineer - US Jobgether Anywhere

This role focuses on building and evolving a sophisticated design system that powers multiple web applications. You will develop reusable UI components and design tokens to ensure a consistent, accessible, and high-quality user experience across platforms. Working in a collaborative, cross-functional environment, you will guide architectural decisions, partner with designers and mobile engineers, and advocate for best practices in performance, accessibility, and maintainability. This position provides the opportunity to impact the entire ecosystem of web products while contributing to long-term system scalability and innovation. You will also play a key role in fostering adoption, collaboration, and shared ownership across product teams, supporting both technical excellence and strategic product goals.
Accountabilities:
- Develop, maintain, and optimize reusable web components using Lit and related web technologies
- Serve as the technical lead for Yellowstone on the web platform, driving architectural decisions and cross-team alignment
- Collaborate with design, Android, iOS, and product teams to ensure components are cohesive, accessible, and performant
- Contribute to the evolution of component architecture for flexibility, scalability, and maintainability
- Advocate for best practices in accessibility, documentation, testing, and web performance
- Support tooling and automation efforts to streamline component updates and releases
- Identify opportunities for AI integration and ways to improve developer and designer experiences
- Participate in cross-functional initiatives to grow adoption and contribution to the design system
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in front-end or full-stack development
- 2+ years of experience building or maintaining design systems or reusable component libraries
- Strong proficiency in TypeScript, Web Components, HTML, and CSS
- Experience integrating design tokens and theming systems across applications
- Solid understanding of accessibility (a11y), responsive design, and cross-browser compatibility
- Experience collaborating with designers and product managers using Figma
- Ability to balance technical elegance with practical solutions that scale across teams
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset
Preferred:
- Prior experience contributing to multi-platform design systems
- Familiarity with Lit or other web component frameworks
- Experience with Storybook, Playwright, or similar tools for component documentation and testing
- Knowledge of web performance optimization and modern build tooling (e.g., Vite, Rollup, Webpack)
- Experience working in a distributed organization with cross-functional partners
